Darby Chism is a Marietta, GA, native with an extensive background in teducation, the arts, and community service. She worked in the education field as a preschool teacher, a prarprofessional for Marietta City Schools, and art enrichment instrutor, and private contractor/consultant. She obtained a degree in English LIterature with an Art Minor from Kennesaw STate University in 2000. After graduation, she went to work for Cobb County's Cultural Affairs Department as an Art Specialist until May of 2004.
The first two years she worked with Cobb County were at The Art Place in East Cobb and the last two years were spent building and establishing the programs at the County's newst facility, The Art STation, in West Cobb. Her job duties as an Art Specialist included planning, coordinating, and implementing the summer art camp curriculum, recruiting, and employing teachers and coordinating classes.
Darby has also worked closely with various groups on the community, local schools, and other County departments teaching art related classes, worshops, and fieldtrips. She has planned arts and crafts and make it-take it art projects for communicty and County events such as the Easter Egg Hunt at Jim R. Miller Park. One of her art projects was featured in the July, 1998, issue of Parents Magazine.
She appeared with the Road Warrior Brett Martin on God Day Live as an Art Place represntative demonstrating spring art projects to do at home. She has also appared frequently on the County's channel 23 emonstrating at home craft projects to be featured at County events.
Currently, Darby is working with Big Dog Publishing who has published multiple plays that she has written. She is also been developing an art curriculum for infants and toddlers for her popular You and Me class at the Kenesaw Community Center.
Darby has a strong passion and desire to further the ARts in her community. It is her belief that this can best be accomplished through the education involvement and the mentoring of our children and nurturing of families.
